The Eye of Horus, in ancient Egypt, is the symbol representing protection, health, and restoration. This oil is used for therapeutic purposes. It is believed to help with the treatment of colds and the flu, eczema, the sensitivity of the chest, headaches, migraines, loss of nasal correct sensory function, alleviate snoring and reduce the symptoms of viral infections.

To use the oil, according to the Egyptians, place 3 drops of the oil in a cup of very hot water. Cover the top for 10 seconds then uncover and deeply inhale the vapor steam. The vapor will be very strong, however, inhale as deeply as you can for the best effects. Do this treatment in the evening when the body is in it's natural repair mode.

The oil can also be applied to the head to help with headaches, applied to the wrists for aromatherapy benefits, used in a diffuser next to the bed to help sleeping. For eczema or skin issues, mix a few drops with almond or olive oil and apply to dry skin to help alleviate itching.

History of Egyptian Oils

In ancient Egypt, extracted fragrance oils were used in rituals, the body and in the hair These ancient perfumes were much thicker than what we use now, similar to a honey or an olive oil consistency. They were potent and remained on the wearer all day.

Ancient Egyptians often used moringa, linseed, sesame and castor oils in their perfumes along with different plants, flowers and wood fragments. Some extracts of almond and olive oil were also used to increase the quality and pungency of the perfumes.
